About Health Physics Academic Education Center
Our Mission
The HPAERC is the Health Physics Academic and Education Research Center. We are a new organization created by the Health Physics Society in July 2023, but operate as a separate independent organization. The purpose of the HPAERC is to raise and disburse funds “to worthy students and institutions that are engaged in training students to become employed as health physicists and radiation protection specialists”. The HPS named 9 HPS members to the initial HPAERC Board of Directors in October 2023, and has also provided startup funding. We are now incorporated as a non-profit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Code, and are working to setup the structure and filings to legally solicit charitable donations from HPS members and supporters, from Government, and from Industry, and to distribute such funding in accordance with our Charter as described above. Please consider HPAERC in your future charitable donation plans and estate planning plans. This will be a great place to help support those entering the Profession, and those training them
